So how the three models differ and why the difference in price?
V10 Animal RRP £399: The entry-level vacuum of the V10 cyclone range. The V10 Animal kit includes the direct-drive cleaner head, mini motorised tool, crevices tool, quick release mini soft dusting brush, docking station and charger.
V10 Absolute RRP £449: The V10 Absolute kit includes all the above, plus an additional soft-roller tool for vacuuming hard floors.
V10 Total Clean RRP £479 : the daddy of the V10 range. As well as including all the above listed for the Absolute, the V10 Total Clean kit also includes a quick-release wide nozzle tool; quick-release extension hose; and quick-release up-top adapter.

What makes the Dyson V10 so impressive?
Motor
It’s small and mighty – the quickest motor Dyson have ever incorporated into one of their vacuum ranges. It spins up to 125,000rpm which is an impressive increase from its predecessor the V8’s motor output of 108,000rpm. However, unlike with a corded vacuum, good things come in small packages and this little motor has brains as well as brawn. The motor is so sensitive it’s able to detect variables including height, temperature and atmospheric pressure of the surface you’re cleaning and adjusts its performance accordingly.
Dust bin/cup
The V10’s cyclone and dust bin are positioned parallel to the spine of the vacuum and, as a result, this optimises airflow and increases suction. The dust capacity has increased from 0.54L to 0.76L, which means less emptying and so fewer trips to the bin; the redesigned ‘point and shoot’ emptying mechanism means when it does come to emptying, there’s no chance of overspill.
Cyclone Technology
An unbelievable 14 cyclone chambers create forces in excess of 79,000G which in turn flings microscopic particles into the dust cup with little or no chance of any pesky pollen or bacteria escaping. The V10 shows Dyson have put some serious time and money into developing their cyclone technology in order to achieve the strongest suction ever seen with a cordless vacuum.
An extra power mode
There are three power settings on the Dyson V10 – low, medium and maximum. Obviously the lower the setting, the less battery you’ll use but it’s worth knowing you’ve got the higher settings to hand when tackling particularly tough stains or surfaces. The maximum setting offers some serious suction!
Improved filter
The V10’s filtration process is remarkable with Dyson claiming the filter is capable of capturing 99.97% of air-born allergens even those as small as 0.3 microns. An LED indicator will alert you to when the filter needs cleaning and it’s easy to detach from the body of the V10 as to remove, it just takes one simple anti-clockwise twisting motion.
Increased battery life
The V10 has a much more energy-dense battery than its predecessor the V8 and as a result, Dyson claims the V10 is capable of vacuuming continuously for up to 60 minutes when being used on the low power setting – that’s more than enough time for most of us to do a total house clean!. Once the battery’s ready for a recharge, 3.5hrs is the time you’re looking at to go from completely drained to full charge – not bad considering how long it runs for once it’s back to 100% power.
Noise-level
The Dyson V10 is undoubtedly impressive but, at the end of the day, it’s still a vacuum, and a powerful one at that, so inevitably, it’s going to make noise. The good news is that it’s definitely quieter than any other Dyson Cyclone range and when tested came in 7dB below the sound level at which hearing protection is recommended.
